Kiwanis’ Annual Community Grants totaling $199,667 announced.

Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation Inc. Board approved the 2019 Community Grants totaling $199,667 at its June 18, 2019 Board meeting. These annual grants are given to community agencies which provide direct support to children and families through basic needs support, education, transportation, counseling, camps, after school tutoring, and therapy programs.

This year, the Kiwanis Grant Coordination Committee awarded 69 grants to service agencies ranging from $300 to $9,500. Most grants are in the range of $1,000 – $3,000. Funds for these grants are from the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation’s Kiwanis Thrift Sale which is held on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm throughout the year.  The Kiwanis Thrift Sale is open to the public and is made possible through the on-going volunteer work of Club members and community volunteers.  Thank you to those volunteers and to the public for their donated items and shopping at the Kiwanis Thrift Sale.

You truly “Help Us Help Kids!”

Later this summer, the Board will announce the recipients of its new two-year tuition support program, called the Finish Line Scholarships, for students attending Washtenaw Community College (WCC).   The Community Grants and the Scholarship Program represent the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation’s long tradition of supporting children and families in need.  Since 1921 this support now totals over $7,000,000.
