Who is The Kiwanis Club Of Ann Arbor?
Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor. We are 133 members and 117 volunteers dedicated to serving the children and families of our community. Membership includes men and women from Ann Arbor and across southeast Michigan. In 2021 we provided over 18,852 volunteer hours. The Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor was chartered on June 13, 1921. The Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation, Inc. was incorporated as a domestic nonprofit organization with the State of Michigan on November 4, 1964. The Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation was recognized by the US Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt nonprofit (501(c)(3) corporation on March 17, 1965. The Club and Foundation were located in downtown Ann Arbor in its own building at 200 S. First St. from 1966 – 2017. That building was sold in 2017. The Foundation purchased a 123,000 sq. ft. building with 17 acres at 100 N. Staebler Rd, Ann Arbor in 2014. All Kiwanis activities including the Kiwanis Thrift Sale were moved to this new location as of January 2018.
Since 1921 through the proceeds from our Kiwanis Thrift Sale, gifts and work from our members, volunteers and staff, we have provided over $9,100,000 in grants, services, and merchandise to children, families, and individuals across our community.
Our major service project, the Kiwanis Thrift Sale, prior to COVID-19, used to be open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays (except holidays). However during the months of April through August 2020, our sale was closed due to COVID-19. We re-opened on Saturdays only, between September 19, through November 14, 2020. However, on November 21, 2020, the Kiwanis Thrift Sale temporarily closed again on Saturdays out of an abundance of caution and concern for the continued safety of our volunteers, members staff, and customers. AS OF APRIL 3, 2021, we re-opened the KIWANIS THRIFT SALE on Saturdays from 9AM to 1PM. EFFECTIVE MAY 21, 2021, We also re-opened on Fridays from 9AM to 1PM. SO NOW WE ARE OPEN ONCE AGAIN BOTH FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS except some holidays. AS OF MAY 29, 2021, WE ONCE AGAIN STARTED ACCEPTING DROP OFF DONATIONS, BUT ONLY ON SATURDAYS FROM 9AM TO NOON, WEATHER PERMITTING. Hope to see you soon. Thank you for your understanding and on-going support throughout the years. Stay safe. Stay healthy. The Kiwanis Thrift sale is located at The Kiwanis Center at 100 N. Staebler Rd., Suite C, off W. Jackson Rd., one mile west of Zeeb Rd., and one mile east of Baker Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103.
